In Australia, a miscarriage is defined as the loss of a baby before 20 weeks gestation. As many as 1 in 4 women will experience a miscarriage. Sadly, many people will not acknowledge when a mother has suffered a miscarriage and do not understand the significance of their loss, sometimes even dismissing or minimising the loss.  However, parents have hopes and dreams for their baby from the moment they see a positive pregnancy test and love them from the beginning.
